The Philippine Tax Academy – Customs Institute successfully conducted the Specialized Program on Customs Import Processes for the Department of Finance – Internal Audit Service (DOF-IAS) on May 25, 26, and 28, 2026.

The program was spearheaded by Atty. Noemi B. Alcala-Garcia, Chancellor of the Customs Institute, as part of the Institute’s continuing efforts to enhance the technical competencies of government personnel through specialized customs education and training.

The training was requested by Usec. Maria Edita Z. Tan, Supervising Undersecretary of the DOF-IAS to help IAS personnel understand the existing systems and processes, as well as challenges, of the government’s 2nd biggest revenue-generating agency.

In her closing remarks, Usec. Tan emphasized that the training provided participants not only with technical knowledge but also with a practical appreciation of customs operations and revenue systems. She expressed hope that the lessons gained would help improve efficiency, compliance, and professionalism in their respective offices while fostering a deeper understanding of how effective customs processes facilitate trade and support economic growth.
