Manila City — June 13-14, 2025
The Philippine Tax Academy–Internal Revenue Institute (PTA-IRI) successfully conducted the Compliance to Competence: 2025 Tax Update Training, a two-day intensive seminar designed to enhance understanding of the Philippine tax system. Held in person with 15 participants from the public and private sectors, the session was led by resource speaker Assistant Commissioner Marivic A. Galban of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Chancellor Ma. Pamela P. Quizon and Vice Chancellor Ma. Lourdes V. Dedal represented PTA-IRI and reaffirmed the Institute’s role in advancing responsive and high-quality tax education. In her welcome remarks, Chancellor Quizon highlighted the importance of strengthening tax competence to support national development and service delivery.
The training covered critical areas of Philippine taxation, including VAT, withholding taxes, income tax, tax incentives under the CREATE Law, and updates from the Ease of Paying Taxes law. Participants engaged in structured lectures, case studies, and interactive exercises that improved their ability to apply tax procedures and identify compliance risks.
Private sector participants gained practical tools for addressing common errors in VAT registration and withholding tax computation, while public sector representatives deepened their capacity to assist stakeholders in navigating compliance requirements. The training culminated in a session on fiscal incentives and the rationale behind tax reforms, equipping attendees with a forward-looking understanding of policy impacts.
The PTA–IRI remains committed to delivering practical, policy-relevant training programs that empower individuals and institutions to meet the demands of a dynamic tax environment.
